Related: About this forumLong Lost Dog Bursts Out In Joy After She Realizes The Man In Front Of Her Is Her Dad
http://www.reshareworthy.com/lost-dog-recognizes-dad/#JvRjIlAoOR8fF0VP.99It had been two long years since Pakita the dog had seen her family. In that time, she was rescued as a stray off the street and brought to Argentinas Arca Animal refuge where they tried to find her a home, but she was overlooked by potential adopters because of her age and her sad demeanor.
But the rescue continued to post up pictures of her to social media and tell everyone how sweet she was, until 2 years later Pakitas family saw a picture of her.
Pakitas grandmother (the mother of her owner, Ariel Naveira) saw the photo and immediately told her son and Arca Animal that Pakita was their long lost dog. Pakita had escaped from home and they had been searching for her ever since.
Skeptical at first, Pakita is her normal withdrawn self. But as the man (Ariel) gestures to her, she tentatively approaches. And then? Its as if she suddenly recognizes his scent and boom, her entire disposition changes. Her tail begins to wag furiously and Pakita is literally jumping for joy!

(51,550 posts)Indeed, he has no pets of any kind in the White House. This little excerpt from CNN's story about the unprecedentedly petless White House is telling:
"When I told him I was bringing Chappy with me to New York, he said, 'No,' " she wrote. "'It's me and Chappy or no one!' I insisted, and that was that."
Chappy, she later said, "had an equal dislike of Donald."

(23,091 posts)Dogs have such pure beautiful souls! Brings tears to my eyes thinking about our big old dog with no hips whose time is coming near, he's got the sweetest heart and the vet is amazed he can move at all.

(3,527 posts)(Some kind of spinal arthritis that caused a slow atrophying of her rear leg muscles) I contacted a Hawaiian company called Doggon Wheels (something like that) and measured her for a Doggie wheelchair. She took to it like a duck to water and we had two more good years together, including wheeling through 2 snowy Canadian winters. But Daisy wasnt that old, she wasnt in pain, and she was mentally with it right until the end.
Its a tough decision to let go, and a personal one. I wish you all the best with your pup.

(1,517 posts)I tend to have kind of a gloomy, cynical outlook on life. What is going on with the country with Trump and all is about to push me into a catastrophic depression.
But seeing this sort of thing perks me up. From abject despair to overwhelming joy in less than a minute. God I love ❤️ dogs!

(28 posts)and I can have the shittiest day at work and read about the world falling apart, but my spirits are lifted the minute I walk through the door when I get home and they are so excited to see me. The feeling is mutual and I swear all the work I've done and the lousy politics and people I've read about that day fade for a while. Dogs rule my house and I'm happy to let them. Just in case you're curious -- 3 miniature dachshunds and 2 miniature pinschers.
