Related: About this forumFosters are four weeks old tomorrow!
A lot has happened between weeks three and four:
Box was breached! On Easter Sunday, Alfie learned how to jump out of the box. That meant it was time to open up the front flap and allow access to the rest of the room:

Ears are up!

Getting a bit crowded in the box, anyway! They are wrestling and tumbling with each other and learning to climb.

Time to explore! They are sniffing and tasting things. I started them on wet food lessons and two are pretty good at it. They are also learning to use the litter box--we have three successful pees that I saw. Mama cat will be happy not to have that chore anymore!

Mama Greta has been more social: she will now walk around the room when I'm there, instead of hiding under the bed or staying in the kitten box. This morning she even came up to me for a head scratch! Amazing. She's a good mom and calls the kittens to her to nurse. When there is "kitten drama" and one is mewing for some reason, she answers with that unique mama cat language, "purrrrrup?" to tell them that she is there.

(2,520 posts)We've had bad furniture for 35+ years. I've lost track of all the cats that I've loved over the years or how many tons of litter I've bought and shoveled.

(17,276 posts)We think she is quite young herself, maybe a year old and with her first litter. She has a sprinkling of cinnamon in her tabby markings, including one eyebrow stripe being cinnamon and the other black. I think she will make a good pet and not have to be out on her own having dozens of kittens in the wild! She will be spayed and put up for adoption later this June.

(7,997 posts)The kittens are so healthy and happy (and CUTE), and I love that wide-eyed "I'm on the job" look that Mama has. Good to hear she's becoming more social too. They will all be adoptable thanks to you.

(76 posts)Nothing cuter than tiny kittens, except, perhaps, the brooder full of day-old chicks in my kitchen. My five cats are actually afraid of the golf ball-sized chicks, although they peek over the lid of the brooder to see what all the peeping is about.

(17,276 posts)I can just picture your cats looking at them.
Shelters always want more foster care-givers this time of year: all you need is a little a little extra space and time.

(76 posts)You're asking a person who doesn't take her computer anywhere because she has no idea how to log into (?) another server, who squints at the screen because she does not know how to make the print bigger . . . this is the person you think can post an actual photo?
I do have a little video I took of the chicks this morning to send to my kids. If anyone can explain in extremely simple language how I can get it from my download list on my Mac into a reply here, I'll give it a go.
