Kittens are three weeks old!

Here are highlights from their third week. Beginning to stand and get those bellies off the ground, although very wobbly. Beginning to sniff, scratch and lick their paws. Looking all around with new eyes. They can't climb out of the box yet (and their mama is glad for that) but they enjoy it when I pick them up and let them out for a while. Mama cat is getting more comfortable with me, and I can even lift her out of the box without a fight (she jumps right back in, though). They are interested in sniffing Mama's food, so that will be the next thing: in about a week they can try some. They are weighing in at about 12-13 oz.

Hi, Mama!

Kittens are evil beings bent on world conquest and their weapon of choice is their cuteness which they can melt the targets brain with.

I once commented on one of the many kitten threads here on DU that it take me about 30 seconds to fall in love wth a kitten. A fellow DUer replied, "Why so long?"

I've been getting the occasional urge lately to just have a mob of tiny kitties. Be smothered in their cuteness and softness. This is perfectly normal, right?

That's why I foster kittens--during the season I have a full supply! If I wanted to and have the time, I can foster three or four litters between April and November. in 2016 I did three: five bottle babies, then three a little older, then two. I'd recommend it if you love kittens and have the time. The bottle babies are the most work, by far, but they get very attached to you.

If you have little time, you can still foster a mom with babies. That amounts to simply caring for the mother's needs, and then socializing the babies.

These kits are just precious. Thanks for sharing AND thank you being a foster mom.
