i just want to thank my pets for getting me through an awful year.

especially my big oaf, dr doom, who would sleep ON TOP OF ME, if i let him.
he kept me warm and safe through some very dark nights.
and my chickens, who get me out of bed no matter how badly i just want to pull the covers over my head and not come out.

where would us lonely people be without our 4-legged and feathered friends?

Several years ago I probably would have committed suicide without my sweet dog Bear relying on me to walk and feed him. In turn, walking him released endorphins which curbed my depression and he rewarded my devotion to him with enless devotion of his own toward me. No one is truly lonely with the love of a pet.

Sending you some human love, too. Keep the faith.

i know if something happened to me, my pets would be taken care of. one way or another. but that warm body has kept me going through some dark damn nights.

everyone should have a pet. everyone.

Michael Vick comes to mind, for a famous example. Some people are too inhuman to have pets. Thankfully, they're in the minority. And I agree that everyone else should have one.

felines saw me through the dark days and nights. Nigel, my 18 year old gray and white long hair would lick the salty tears from my face. My 2 year old petite, 7 pound little brown tabby girl, Sammy, is a complete cuddle bug, and my 1 year old brown tabby boy, who at 18 pounds is a behemoth, provided lots of love and much needed comic relief. I don't think I could have made it without them.

1 year old. If he doesn't get his daily "Da Bird" workout, he finds some sort of mischief to get into, lol. I hope 2015 is better for you too, dear. Thank you for your kind words.

BTW, your chicken coop setup is genius. And they look like lots of fun!
