Eggplant sandwiches with chipotle mayo. The sandwiches have a breaded eggplant slice, then mozzarella cheese, basil leaves, and a beefsteak tomato slice. Also a roasted red pepper slice.

In the breading for the eggplant, I put grated parmesan and chopped fresh herbs. Then I dipped the eggplant in melted butter and then the breading. Roasted them in the oven for a nice, crispy exterior.

Green salad with pears, pecans, and feta cheese. Sadly, I have now started having to buy most lettuce because of the heat. I am starting new crops in the shade, but don't have a lot of hope they will result in good lettuce.

Dessert: little custard pies and cold chamomile tea.

1. Japanese dinner

I had to drive to Brooklyn today to pick up my 1974 Wurlitzer electric piano which was being refurbished. While I was in the shop collecting and paying, the Landlady(!) went across the street to pick up take out:

Sashimi deluxe dinner with beautiful filets of about 7 or 8 different fish. This came with miso soup and a green salad and a small bowl of sushi rice.

Beef Negamaki with the same sides. We'll mix 'n' match. I have a bottle of sake in the liquor cabinet so I'll open and heat that.

2. I ate on the fly at work

A fried chicken breast and small scoops of potato salad and Mac and cheese. Lots of Gatorade. It’s soooo hot in there. I’m out back smoking and it feels downright pleasant out here. It’s 90 degrees. Ugh.

I’ll probably have a spinach salad and a huge glass of sweet tea when I get home at 9.

Kidney bean soup with a garnish of sour cream and hot sauce.

FLFC is sleeping and I'm not sure what he will agree to eat. I have several things to tempt him like spare ribs and a hotdog as well as a variety of dog foods.
