Advice please...too salty lagasna...

What to do?

How the heck did I get it too salty?

Scrape the cheese and noodles off and add diluted sauce and rebake? Add more cottage cheese? Rinse the cheese and feed that to my big pup? Throw the rest out? Such a waste. I hate myself for being so stupid.

Thanks, folks.

I would be happy to help you solve your problem. I have a salt/potassium imbalance . . . I always need more sodium.

ricotta, which I believe has less salt than cottage cheese. Add more noodles (unsalted) and tomato sauce (unsalted)?

because they don't care for the sometimes "grainy" texture in some ricotta.

Cottage cheese is neutral and takes on flavor wonderfully in a savory dish.

...and never worry about availability or cost. It's easy to do, and doesn't take much time. There are tons of recipes and techniques online. I use lemon juice to set the curds, I like the end taste better than what you get with vinegar. Use the cheese within a week, it doesn't keep very long. The more you drain it, the thicker it will be. Also more creamy, and not gritty like the store-bought stuff. You're welcome.

and simmer it with a stick of celery (chopped in largish chunks) and water and/or wine. Taste as you go and cook until the sauce isn't so salty. Remove the chunks before adding the sauce back into the noodle mixture. Celery absorbs excess salt very well, and the wine will also tamp down over saltiness. I'm ignorant about cheese, so if that is your problem I am no good to you at all. Good luck.

I'll save that precious cheese.

Potatoes absorb salt too, do they not?

Thank you!

They would also impart a little starch in the water to slightly thicken the sauce.
