What's for Dinner, Tues., Aug. 1, 2017

Either:

a) a cold chicken salad (with dried cranberries, celery, and tpasted almonds) over tossed greens

or

b) pasta bolognese with a tossed green salad

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, everyone!

served slivered on a simple "Chinese" (old recipe from a friend in the 1980s) Napa cabbage salad, with edamame and whatever else I find. Probably sliced tomatoes on the side because we are tomato-rich these days. Happily, there isn't much they don't complement.

I'm going to cook a package of bacon in the oven, use some for my omelette, and save the rest. The basics of onions, spinach, and various cheeses will be involved.
We started watching "Poirot," and I was very confused when he retired to the country to raise vegetable marrow. It turns out to be squash! I can't imagine how it got that name.

TJ is making some stir fried beef with vegetables over rice. I saw summer squash, bell pepper, mushrooms, and carrots. There may be more, but I keep my distance when she uses a knife.

I haven't decided what will be after. Perhaps tea and cookies for a change.
