Alice B. Toklas created a fish dish just for him. She cooked a whole fish, then made it "cubist" with strips of pimiento and swirls of mayonnaise. (I suspect it was a flounder, a cubist fish if there ever was one, with both eyes on the same side) Picasso was delighted. My favorite story in this lovely book.

"The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas" was written by Gertrude Stein.

not the "autobiography (my error)," and I don't think she served him hashish brownies. But the recipe is in there.
