At 8 a.m. because the local utility company was taking out my old meter and installing a new "meter" of sorts outside. I had to leave because I wouldn't be able to get my car out otherwise (live on a private road). They dug up long trenches in the property. Pic below. New technology; pretty amazing.

Since I was already out, I went to the Korean greengrocer and got lotsa' veggies, particularly for salad.

I bought oranges and a fresh cinnamon bagel. Had half the bagel with mascarpone for breakfast, along with an orange and dark Chinese tea.

That black line on the bottom third of the picture is the new gas line. All the natural gas for my house will come through that line. No more black iron pipes. The tech told me this line will last 100 years. It is small because they use pressure technology to feed the natural gas to the house. (I think he said polyethylene, but not sure).

The yellow line on the top 2/3 of the pic is just an electric line that is used to sense where the line is if they need to do so. The black line will be extended to the house over the yellow line.

This is a huge expenditure for the utility company because they have had to tear up the streets everywhere. In my case I am lucking out because they are totally re-paving my private road this spring. The length of this road is about as long as a football field. Yay! The last time I did it, my neighbor and I paid for it and it was $20 grand, so in a way this is real lucky for me.
