What's for Dinner, Sun., Nov. 26, 2023

Chicken Marbella, using the slow cooker roast chicken that I prepared yesterday.

I'm even using the original Chicken Marbella recipe from my Silver Palate cookbook. It has sundried tomatoes, kalamatas, garlic, capers, thyme, dry white wine, honey and parsley. Aleppo pepper, too.

This recipe brings back so many memories of visiting my friend Myra in Manhattan over the weekend. She lived close to The Silver Palate (it was on Columbus Ave. near 73rd) and we went over there to get takeout for every meal. We were such good friends. She is a dead ringer for Joy Behar in both looks and sense of humor.

This is all I will have the energy for, as we worked 3 hours cleaning up leaves again today.

Great northern beans, cumin, salsa verde, lots of white meat chicken. My wife is a wizard in the kitchen. The house smells heavenly.

While visiting my family, we had several dinners at restaurants and tonight will be the denouement of all the goodies we took with us.

They include several grilled beef tenderloin tips, a complete wedge of iceberg lettuce salad with Roquefort cheese, bacon, red onions and tomato slices, a bit of haddock stuffed with crabmeat, a half a slice of prime rib, a nearly full order of grilled asparagus and a loaded baked potato. Each meal was huge! How can anyone eat so much food in one sitting?!

I don't think we'll want any dessert.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

and roasted them tonight. And making turkey stock with the bones.

BTW, the price of turkey drops almost 50% the day after T-day.

Al and I had a full day of very physical work. We figured we earned the treat.

We each picked a combination plate (one w/ rice and one w/ lo mien) and also got an order of coconut shrimp. Items in the combo plates included beef/mushroom chow yoke, crab rangoon, egg roll, and boneless spare ribs.

I made a banana cream pie, but was so tired that I ended up going to bed before it was set and ready to eat.
