Instant pot discoveries

Instant pots are pretty amazing things. We have one with an air fryer lid and the versatility is pretty amazing. We made instant pot applesauce last night and it came out very nice. We did salmon in the air fryer attachment and really liked that too. Any recommendations of things to try/

It’s got more functions than I’ll ever use. I’m not a very good cook, but I can make things tasty with it.

In mine.

My favorite quick roast is season (salt/pepper/garlic) and brown a 3 lb roast on all sides, sprinkle with a package of onion soup mix and some fresh thyme, top with a heap of thinly sliced onions (usually 3 medium sized) and pour a whole bottle of beer over the whole thing. I set mine on “meat” setting for 80 min. Then let it slow release. I shred the beef and thicken the onion gravy.

Put the herb in a vacuum seal bag. Forget the time and pressure settings.

They say it works well with no smell.

Just saying.....

5. After using "regular" stove top pressure cookers I bought a Instant 6 qt on sale. Cheaper that the 3 quart!

The one of the things I like is that the instantP uses less juice than my electric stove top. Just messed around and made some rice, beans and timed it boiling water. Like many pressure cookers tne thing to note is the 6 quart only has 4 ½ quarts of usable space inside...

But probably the most useful trick is cooking solidly frozen chicken breasts or thighs.

15 minutes on high and they are moist and juicy.

8. I cook beans a lot because I only have to rinse them and not soak them overnight.

Add lots of root veggies and spices and sometimes non-fatty pork. It's amazing to have bean dishes in a little over an hour. Healthy and not expensive.

I had tried to cook them in the pressure cooker and they came out ugly. The instant pot version didn't.

and has a great pot roast in about 90 minutes.
She also reports it is fantastic for cooking dried beans

She is giving us one for Christmas. Last year it was an air fryer which we have enjoyed.
