Well, it devolved into a usual DU GD discussion about how I was ungrateful for free food yada yada yada. All I wanted to understand was how something could be
Tasty meals that are ready to heat and eat and last for 14 days in the fridge If you open it on the day you receive it, is it good until the 14th day?

I assume these are vacuum sealed meals but, in case I have to depend on this for nutrition at some point in my future, I want to know what it is.

1. Depends on how it's packed

Obviously, a generic can of soup is not going to be nice if you open it and keep it in the fridge for 14 days. However, prepared food that is treated with high heat in a vacuum sealed package will be good. As long as you don't open all the individual packs on the first day to see what you got, it should be fine for the period the label states, and then some.

After all, there are shel stable prepared foods out there now. They're awful, but if that's all ya got, they'd be great.

Will foods still be good after 14 days in the fridge? That depends on a lot of things - what the foods are (pickles keep a long time, fish not so much), how they're packaged, how cold or how efficient your fridge is, whether they're stored in proper places in the fridge (meats in the coldest spots, for example), how the foods were packaged, etc
