Sheet pan dinner with Brussels sprouts in balsamic, yellow peppers, and the pork sausages I bought at WF this afternoon. There's a variety: garlic-herb, mild Italian, chorizo. Lots and lots of garlic. Everything tossed in olive oil. Oh and herbs, probably sage and thyme.
The RG said I should grate the rest of the chestnuts and sprinkle over the top. Interesting idea; I think I'll try it.
I'm raving about the chestnut soup I made last night. When I got to the ruby port part: nothing in the cabinet! This astounded me because the RG manages to keep a wide range of spirits around the house.I called him and he suggested a subtitute port and a couple tablespoons of B&B. It turned out so well. The recipe name is "silky chestnut soup" and it lived up to its name. The soup had a beautiful gloss to it.
The conclusion is: I love, love, love chestnuts and will be looking for new ways to use them. I will definitely make this recipe again.
Recipe is Wolfgang Puck's: https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/silky-chestnut-soup-puck

(22,767 posts)I'm too tired today. So, making Morningstar Chik'n nuggets with homemade peanut sauce over rice noodles with thinly sliced cukes and onion in a homemade slightly sweetened rice vinaigrette. Was going to make this last week, but husband decided he just wanted to eat the chik'n nuggets with tots and a veg.
Are you doing intl version of long distance "Dial a Recipe", as my family likes to refer to it?

(35,840 posts)hahah, hey, I tell him that he's one of the great taste conoisseurs in the gourmet food field, and if he thinks I'm not going to take advantage of it, he should think again.
He's so creative, the way he puts together tastes and ingredients. I love to watch the look on his face when he's coming up with this stuff.

Did not cook for Dad tonight. We made a trip to the food pantry. I think we will eat very well this month. There really isn't too much we'll need to buy (fresh veggies, and maybe some eggs and butter.)

(36,281 posts)That was directly related to my unfulfilled need to replenish the pantry.

(10,188 posts)It's cold and rainy so I want something that heats up the kitchen: meatloaf made with ground beef, veal, and pork along with onions, celery, carrots, and bread crumbs.
