What's for Dinner, Sat., Oct. 29, 2022

One nice thing about this time of year is that the squash hasn't disappeared because we've had no killing frost. Yet any squash blossoms will only result in a small squash at best, so I don't feel bad about picking them.

Thus:

Stuffed squash blossoms with shrimp, garlic, scallions, and ginger. Also has Thai green pepper and white pepper.

The sauce will be lemon, soy sauce and sesame.

Small dinner salad to go with it. Olive oil/lemon vinaigrette.

Dessert: Sliced apples with caramel dipping sauce and vanilla nut decaf.

Smoked sausage
Baked cabbage wedge with onion and pepper
Veggies from a pot roast (potatoes, carrots, onions & celery)

Fruit afterwards. Blueberries, clementine or banana.

Maybe some icecream later if we have the kind I'm allowed.

Heated in the micro with parcooked bacon on top.
This resulting in bacon fat “gravy”.

Mmmmm

but this time, topped with shredded extra sharp cheddar.

He's also having the last of the cole slaw.

I'm not hungry and my tummy is feeling a tad off. Maybe later.

with sweet potatoes and broccoli, which we'll top with sesame-miso vinaigrette ( https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1021463-miso-sesame-vinaigrette-thats-good-on-anything ). There's a couple of small tomatoes that have been slowly ripening since we had frost a couple weeks ago that we'll have, and I was also thinking of slicing apples and having them with caramel sauce.

And unfortunately the restaurant let us down last night. We had been there a few times before and always had a pleasant experience. Not last night.

Al's daughter ordered "loaded tots" without the bacon, and got bacon.

Al ordered a burger with "well-done fries" and didn't get ANY fries at all, but a serving of asparagus.

I ordered an 8 oz sirloin, medium-rare and it came to the table well-done.

They fixed everything, of course, but 5 plates on the table and 3 of them were wrong in some way. And it's not as though the restaurant was very busy.
