So Sunday, I charcoaled broiled a couple of Strip Steaks. Pretty much only 1 was consumed and the other went into the fridge (medium rare).
So Tuesday, I was wondering what to do with the steak and decided on the following-
Mix in a 2 QT pot with-
Olive Oil
1/2 chopped onion
1/4 large green pepper (chopped)
2 cloves garlic.
Flavor with Montreal Steak Seasoning (a few vigorous shakes), Onion and Garlic powder.
When reduced, add A-1 steak sauce - maybe a 1/4 cup?
Add steak - Pre-cut into bite-size pieces.
Add - 1 medium whole tomato, cut into chunks.
Add - 1/2 cup or so grated hard cheese - enough to cover thinly over all the stuff in the pot.
Cook on med. low heat for 10-15 minutes, mixing ingredients.
Add:
1 jar of Hunt's Au Jus Beef Gravy
1/2 cup of Sour Cream.
Cook about 30 minutes - constantly stirring.
Cook Egg Noodles. Serve the Used Beef over the noodles.
Pretty damn good, as far as my taste buds go.
If I had on-hand, I would have added fresh mushrooms and/or cooked carrots when I added the tomatos....

(24,344 posts)Try this sometime with your egg noodles. Specfically, sometime when you aren't concerned about calories. After cooking them, fry them in butter until they just start to turn a little crispy. One of my great leftovers memories from my childhood.

(22,767 posts)When we have leftover steak, I slice it up and saute in butter and garlic, sliced mushrooms and onion. Husband usually eats that for breakfast with OE eggs.

(22,767 posts)you work with what's on hand. And that's not a bad outcome at all.
