(22,767 posts)Then we're having the last two fried boneless thighs leftover from last night. Husband will have his on a plate with french fries and I got more corn on the cob so we'll both have that. I'm going to put my chicken on wheat bread with extra sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato and Miracle Whip.
Something that hit me last night when I was preparing the dredge: I thought, hmmm, rosemary sounds good. So I crushed up some dried rosemary leaves in my mortar and pestle and added that to my flour with the usual Lawry's Season Salt, black pepper and garlic. (I also add the same seasonings to my beaten egg for the dredge, too.) It smelled so good while it was frying and tasted really good, too. Seems like such a no-brainer, don't know why I didn't think to do it before yesterday.
The only other thing I've added to my dredge before was ingredients to make it spicy: cayenne and white pepper in the flour along with the Lawry's, etc and Franks Red Hot in the egg.

(412 posts)with canned clams, red wine, garlic, pepper flakes, the last of the home-canned tomatoes (arghh) and 2 diced fresh romas, plus a little fresh basil from the garden.
It's time to hit the farmers' market for canning (roma) tomatoes. Geez - I always tell my husband that most household murders occur in canning season. "Gee, honey, when's supper? What have you been doing all day?" and the kitchen has a heat and humidity level that would put Sumatra to shame. Half-naked woman sweating like a river, visible steam from the stove, and a still half-full box of uncanned tomatoes. Temperature outside in the shade is high 90s.
No jury in the world would convict me. But in winter, every jar is like gold. Or, to use a southern expression, like ham in the fridge. You're prepared for anything.
At the start of the pandemic, with empty shelves and we were all supposed to stay on lockdown anyway, I knew I could keep us going for 6 weeks. At the end, we'd be eating tomatoes, beans, and frozen apples, but we'd be eating. I'm glad it didn't come to that.
