(43,162 posts)broccoli, spinach, cucumber. Red grapes.
Country style pork ribs on the grill with Stubbs sauce.
I'll throw some corn on there, too. I'm going to try something new. Usually I shuck the corn then butter, salt & paper the ears and wrap in aluminum foil before grilling. Today I'm going to try cooking them in their husks. I'm told it's delicious so we'll see.
The Landlady(!) harvested some tomatoes and green beans from her greenhouse to make a salad.
Chocolate ice cream for dessert.

(1,706 posts)Jambalaya with chicken andouille in the Instant Pot. Corn on the cob. I'm taking dinner to some friends tomorrow, and I made a big pan of chocolate chip oatmeal bar cookies, so my family will have some tonight. The other things my friends are getting are oven-fried chicken drumsticks, pasta and vegetable salad, and strawberries with mandarin oranges.

(38,558 posts)Al had another major set-back w/ his eye this past week. They had given him a steroid the previous week, and it turns out that was a bad idea. They didn't realize that all of his eye trouble was caused by a virus. The steroid severely aggravated the virus. So, now he's on anti-viral medication, and they added an eye ointment to help heal some of the damage caused by the virus (he's got an ulcer on his eye).
He goes for a follow-up on Monday. The laser surgery on his other eye has been postponed to later in the month.
They think the virus that did the damage is a herpetic virus (like the ones that cause cold sores). We'll know for sure some time this week when the culture comes back.

(22,767 posts)He certainly didn't need one more thing like this to happen. Hope they can get that infection cleared up as soon as possible.

(22,767 posts)Homemade Italian subs and fresh steamed sweet corn cut from the cob.
I got all this stuff for subs because it had been a while and it sounded so good, but wasn't able to eat it last night. Just fixed the husband's and hoping I'll feel up to eating later.

Reminds me that one dinner Dad would make (after Mom died, he'd do some meals for us,) franks and beans. How can I have forgotten SO much???
Gotta me some beans.

(35,673 posts)I went shopping and when I saw it, looked for the lobster ravioli. They didn't have it. They had two other kinds that looked really good; one was cremini mushroom. Wonder if they'll have the lobster on another visit.
They offer so many kinds--among them, shrimp/lobster, porcini, basil-pignoli, butternut squash, prosciutto. ShopRite and other stores carry a more extensive selection, but at higher prices.
I will ask the RG what he knows about Rana, just out of curiosity. More often than not, he knows the owner or president of these Italian companies and he can tell me the whole history from the time the owner started it in his garage.
Oh, and one other thing I wanted to mention--I got Stanley Tucci's book! Taste My Life Through Food. In fact, I think I'll head to bed now and read it.

(130,908 posts)Great you've got that book!

(35,673 posts)Easy read, fun. I just love Stanley. I like to have his show on in the background, even if I've seen it two or three times. That and Only Murders in the Room, which I watch over and over. I have it DVR'd so I can engage in such ridiculous behavior.
He was the greatest as Julia's spouse. Perfect casting.
He tells his family background and provides a few recipes here and there. He was brought up in northern Westchester in a middle class neighborhood and talks about the importance of cooking in his family and how in other middle class families that was not necessarily the case. He did not enjoy having dinner at his friends' houses!
Definitely carving out some time for a few more chapters today.
