I like the frozen ones I get, but they get pricey. I'd prefer to start making the patties from canned ones. I know there are numerous ones on Google, but, a tried & true recipe would be nice. Thx.

(111,261 posts)but my hardcore veggie days were a long time ago. Maybe they've improved them from the sad, mushy affairs I made from scratch or (when I was out of time) from a mix.
The only bean burgers I ever really liked were made from okara, the solids left over from making soymilk. They hadn't started to sell Silk back in the dark ages, so I had plenty of okara to work with.
Having said that, I did find including things like bulgur wheat or finely chopped seitan for a little texture and making the burgers thin helped them considerably.
After that, it's just adding the other things you like in them--onion, garlic, herbs, ground seasonings, grated carrot, whatever.

(111,261 posts)and not a morality vegetarian, which is why okara was something I loved. Soymilk I could take or leave, but my ex liked it on his cereal.

(14,889 posts)I'll check the links above out. I too would rather make a veggie burger from scratch rather than purchasing.
