Time to revisit the Salted water for Boiling epic thread at Epicurious

Salted Water for Boiling

When salting water for cooking, use 1 tablespoon of salt for every 4 quarts of water.

I was a bit disappointed. I didn't have water so I substituted milk and I was out of salt so I used oregano. It just didn't quite do it for me...




PS I edited the typos for that review.

i found that while this was delicious this was a bit watery



Reminds me of Lindsay's "hot ham water" from Arrested Development.... "Mmmmm, so WATERY!"

Salting the water helps keep eggs from "bleeding" if the shell cracks during boiling.

Well i gained 10,000 pounds the night i ate this, i don't now if its because i used grease instead of water and bacon bits as salt, but i would never make this extremely complicated recipe again.
