I name the notebook with the Surname, then a section for each person. Each person has a page for birth, death, military, etc.
I use the first section (FAUBEL Tree) as a clipboard, anything I find gets recorded there, then I can move it to the correct person after I've verified the info.

I haven't used the color coding system, but I do remember it took a few days to get the email

order are they in? Siblings together then the father and his siblings? Or some thing else?

Then I linked Edward Julius (George's son and my GGrandfather) to a new notebook with him as the head, his wive(s) and children.

and so on..

It works especially well for collecting all those little bits and pieces of info found on the net, or I can paste in full documents like birth certificates

I found it too much to keep by specific person as I had so many people. Also I would need duplicates of census records for father & son / husband & wife which I found wasteful.

County records are, obviously, county-wide lists that may have multiple family information. That way they are easy to find when I have a new surname to look up.

I would be interested in learning how others are using One Note. I quit because I wasn't sure how to print or export to send info to others.

But mostly just jumbled together in the folder. Perfection not achieved.
