Guess what I discovered online?

Mostly from Ancestry.com and newspapers.com

My father's father registered to marry twice in four years between 1900 and 1904. Further investigation proved while he wasn't a bigamist, he jilted the first fiancée to marry my grandmother. It created a scandal as the first fiancée was now socially ruined (it WAS 1900 after all) and her family sued for breach of promise. And her brother committed suicide three years later. While the paper called him "mentally deranged", my guess is that he was distraught from the stress of my grandfather dumping his sister.

None of this was ever revealed in our family.
