Lots of things don't taste right anymore - a lifelong tea drinker,

I just stopped drinking it because it wasn't right. So I was thrilled to find out that ruby grapefruit juice tastes great. Then, I accidentally found out that grapefruit juice interferes with at least one medication. Can I get a pity chorus from a tiny violin?

I stopped drinking that good ruby grapefruit juice when taking a med, so as no longer taking it, may return to the good juice.

So many things taste awful to me now. Chocolate is horrible! But losing a beloved drink is rough, I love all things sour and I can't even look at them.

My daughter has the same issue - but she can time drinking it so she can get away with it.

Which sucks, because I love grapefruit juice.
As far as your pity chorus from a tiny violin, fortunately there's an emoji for that.

Iced tea, lemonade, iced coffee...all normally staples for me. They taste dreadful now (this is after five chemos).
All I can drink now is water, hot tea, and half a cup of coffee here and there.
I seriously think this is THE worst side effect...I love food and it feels as though I've lost a major source of enjoyment in my life.

That Imperial Gunpowder green tea is languishing in the cupboard. The Earl Grey, I guess because of the Bergamot, is bearable. I'm going to try some cherry juice. If too strong, I can cut it with some vanilla ice cream.

I definitely have it easier than you, so I hate to complain...but I'm a Jew, so I love to complain! I'm finally getting to the market today and I'll see what kinds of variety packs they have. I have noticed that English breakfast tastes better than plain ol' orange pekoe.

I like the idea of going to a buffet and trying a bit of this and that to see what works. That was suggested here.

I got Lady Grey , which I like, and Plantation Mint, a terrible name for black tea with mint. Will try after dinner. I have a yukky tickle in my throat and maybe the mint will make nice with it.
Dinner to be a baked potato. Seriously. Not even with fun stuff on it.

On the same subject, although I'm not much of a drinker, once I'm three weeks past my next and final chem, I want to celebrate with a cocktail. I'm thinking Pina Colada -- it sounds so fresh and fruity!

Quite nice and refreshing.

I haven't had radiation ( just chemo, with surgery to come)..is that why you said the alcohol would burn?
I'll ask my doctor how long after the final treatment to wait though.

A guy in my oncologist's waiting room gave me one. These are from the Florida Candy Company, originally from Wildwood in Joisey (been there!). They used to have a big contract with Disney to sell their mints and salt-water taffy at DizWorld. When they lost the contract, they looked for other ways to market...that's when they realized cancer patients, and others who had varied issues, were really digging the mints, which are made with real peppermint oil. Now they promote the mints for palliative care.
Anyway, they are delicious! Some say to have a mint about half an hour before a meal, that it will help to reset the taste buds. I ordered some, and also got a bag of the fruit flavors and the chocolate mints. Shipping is fairly steep, but they can also be found in some drugstores and hospital gift shops.
