1. I have classical music on almost all day, and when something really inspires me, I head to the piano.

2. I’m in a very scenic location and clouds pop up, especially at sunrise and sunset and I have to scramble to catch the rapidly changing light show. I’d grow flowers but the deer eat them, so I rely on wildflowers for my close-ups. Alternatively, one could very “profitably” take a scenic drive. Even cities have neat photo-opps.

Distract the distractor!

Arguably, these are addictions as well, but let’s say “creative” ones.

Naturally, I store e-books and musical scores on the gadgets (the printed collection is very heavy) and edit photos on the computer. So, it’s not all “wasted” time. Computers are general purpose, and “Tuum est” — It’s up to you to decide.

Checking my IG accounts. So now I kept it downstairs in the junk drawer. I spend way less time on it now.

Is there a chance that you are wrong here?
It is maybe your own compulsion to limit your self?

We need food to survive, but eating compulsively too much food, particularly over processed over sweetened over salted junk food, is bad for one's health.

Similarly with the Internet. And particularly message boards and the like -- I spend way too much time on them and get sucked into discussions I would be better off staying out of. As for the information on the Internet, aside from its quality issues, yes, its important to stay informed, but like food, there is a point where enough is enough given higher priorities than trying to keep up with everything.

For example, my house is a mess and I consider it a higher priority than the Internet and DU, but I escape to the Internet / DU rather than deal with the unpleasantness of dealing with the seemingly hopeless clutter, let alone other house problems.

Many other things aren't getting done that should be worked on at least a few hours a week.

Edit to add - decluttering is also physically straining. A lot of moving things around and breaking down boxes. Easier to sit at the computer.
