Has anyone seen Transatlantic on Netflix?

I found the premise intriguing. Great acting and dialogue. But it went on way too long and seemed like one danger after another with no real resolution. I finally gave up and turned it off.

1. It was pretty good

We watched all 7 episodes and enjoyed them. It took awhile to get used to Gillian Jacobs in straight dramatic role.

The series is based on actual historic events that were covered in some detail in Ken Burns’ recent Holocaust series.

2. "...one danger after another" describes the Nazi invasion of Europe well.

We've been watching it (on the last episode now) and marvel at how the people in peril try to have normality as much as possible (romances, celebrations, dinners, family play and laughter) while knowing what they face.
The resistance movements/efforts were many and involved lots of people all over Europe. Amazing people who did what they could in the face of constant danger. Heroes.
Compare them to the whiny right-wingers who pretend to be under constant threat by woke people, elitists, reverse discrimination, a war on Christians, liberal media, women, students, George Soros, and all sorts of other bullshit. They call themselves patriots and arm themselves to the teeth.

I might give it another try. As I said, I loved the premise of regular people trying to get people in danger from the Nazis out of Europe.

5. It is based on a true story.

What bothers me is how the U.S. looked the other way for so long.

4. I turned it off in Ep 4.

I thought it was too contrived. They should have just told the story without the unnecessary fluff.

6. I thought it was well-acted and beautifully photograghed

I like the way they portray the famous artists and writers as real human beings, though probably fictionalized somewhat. Apparently Hannah Arendt was an early riser. and Dadaist writer Walter Mehring was also a song-and-dance man, at least in one surprising and appropriately surreal scene. I found the whole story very compelling and sadly relevant for today.
