Old gay reminiscence -- my weirdest most clueless fundy Christian encounter.

I am old and gay.

Scene:
I was in college, late 1970s. Out to those who know me but not publicizing, though I did participate in some of the earliest NYC pride marches, so it was no secret.

Accosted by a Campus Crusader:
No particular overt anti gay slant to his message of Christ's imminent return, and I didn't put him on the spot on that issue, but he did say something about there being a lot of demonic possession about (as a sign of the end).

Me (secular nominal Jewish upbringing):
Demon possession? Oh come on!

Fundy:
Well what about all these homosexuals? Any man who would put another man's dick in his mouth must be demon possessed!

Please note:
The anti-gay message still wasn't his primary argument, it was supposed to be self evident proof of demonic possession. To get that objection out of the way before continuing the Christ's imminent return rant.

Me:
Told him I was gay, exited laughing.

I've seen worse in terms of evil fundies, but never weirder or more clueless.

I remember when the Rolling Stones were coming to town, the CCC were out in force to warn students about the demon rock and roll. One day outside the student union, a guy shoved some literature in my face and told me that the Stones were instruments of the devil. When I gave him a WTF look, he said "just listen to the lyrics to Sympathy for the Devil!"

I said, "I have and that's why I bought a ticket to see them!"

Fast forward two years...my brother's roommate joined their little cult. After being properly brainwashed, he came back to the dorm one day and started smashing all of his records. I remember seeing a Heart album and Steve Winwood's Arc of a Diver in the trash

My brother and I were thunderstruck by his actions. Needless to say the rest of the year was awkward.
