Cuba announces same-sex marriage referendum
Cuba's parliament has announced a new family law which will be put to a referendum on September 25. It would legalize same-sex marriage and civil unions, as well as allow same-sex couples to adopt children.Cuba's parliament announced on Friday that the country will hold a referendum on the legalization of same-sex marriage and surrogate parenthood.
The referendum on the new family law is scheduled to be held on September 25.
Decision 'left in the hands of the people'
"The final decision will be left in the hands of the people," the National Assembly's secretary said.
