Rice University marching band trolls anti-LGBTQ rival during halftime with stunning display of pride

Rice University students mocked a rival school’s anti-LGBTQ policies during a football game over the weekend with an incredibly display of solidarity with the community. Baylor University has refused to recognize a student group for LGBTQ students, saying “homosexual behavior” isn’t permitted at the Baptist school.

The Rice University Marching Owls Band performed a halftime number complete with the Village People’s “YMCA” and dozens of rainbow and trans flag-waving students and alumni to bring attention to Baylor’s insulting denial of recognition.

“We just think that’s kind of ridiculous,” Chad Fisher, a spokesman for the band told the Houston Chronicle. “And so we all got to our show writing meeting Sunday, and we were like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is like exactly what our show needs to be about. We absolutely need to call Baylor out for this.’ From there, it just kind of happened.”

A spokesperson for Baylor refused to comment, but pointed the Chronicle to a previous statement from the university’s president.

4. My brother used to work there

doing music. He was gay and would be proud. I will be proud for him.

Little by little, step by step. It should not have take this long to rid ourselves of this Baylor attitude but it is going to take a while longer I guess. It never ceases to amaze me that people still think like this.

7. Yep. University Prez....

Right smack dab in the middle of Baylor's athlete sexual assault disaster. A loathsome creature, he was also on the legal team defending Epstein in '07. Interesting pattern there.

12. Yeah, this guy gets around.

He was dean of the Pepperdine Law School in Malibu, CA. prior to Baylor.
My daughter graduated from there...she actually met him.

11. The Marching Owls Band is famous.

The marching band at Texas A-n-M uses a whistle during marches.

Someone with the MOB found out what kind of whistle, bought one, and blew it at random intervals during the Aggie band’s performance. The result was (unless you’re an Aggie) hilarious.
