re: going to sf pride mrrow . first one update .

i was hoping to see some of you on bart but i never got to bart , a little explination. i have a-fib - a flutter . i was getting my bath at 0500 , went to turn around and the heart took off doing 150-156 bpm. i have certain emergency proceedures in place to deal with the naughty heart. i alerted my ride via skype that i was in trouble .i then called 911. medics came , took me to hospital which is a mile away. the er drs gave me 3 doses of my emergency med in liquid form and then liquid dialtiazem which got the rate down into the 90s, however the heart was still in a flutter as wittnesed by the o scope via a crankey saw tooth wave . i was put under semi local anasteisa and was electrically converted . we have sinus rythem. all is not lost , a friend sent me a link so i can watch the parade via live feed. being there and marching with u in spirit. too bad some of us du members couldent march together next year. new goal. shooting for modesto pride in september. be well, be safe . 73 de allan01bear.

Nothing wrong with the live streaming option. Honestly, as an introvert, I prefer it. But it's never good to have plans disrupted by a heart arrhythmia! Glad you are safe and resting!!

There was much crowds and confusion that was a bit much for me. I have a condition as well, for which Caleb was assigned to me as a service dog. Today, I got to the wrong BART platform that has no elevator, and had a pretty bad dizzy spell coming up the stairs and had to stop. It was obvious to some people around, I smiled and assured them it's okay, chronic problem. This is why Caleb was assigned to me as 110 pounds of protective animal, Any extended walk produces this problem, and resolves in a minute or so.
Caleb is exhausted and so am I. Returning, I came to the realization that this is the last time I go alone.
Caleb is 11 years old, and had surgery 2 months ago to remove a tumor on his leg, requiring a skin graft the vet harvested from his thigh. So, the contingent understood why I wouldn't march this year.
I'm going on 60 years old in September. December of this year marks 10 years since I had a little run-in with some muggers that left me in the condition I struggle with sometimes as well as layer-cake PTSD nightmares. I still work, and my workplace accommodates me well enough to keep working hopefully until I can collect SS retirement.
I go to an excellent cardiologist in the city regularly because of high blood pressure. It's an odd trade-off for me because whenever my BP is medicinally controlled, the dizzy spells and nausea are more often, but that beats risking a stroke with pressure that reaches panic values.
If your rate and rhythm are susceptible, the noisy confusion of the parade is not a place to be!
I'm not likely to go next year, or I may consider the Sacramento Pride, that I hear is not quite as raucous.
I take it you're located somewhere near Modesto?

So I stick with the one in the city who has taken care of me for many years now.
But I don't know how much longer I'll stay there. Not one single other person from our area at the parade, and that's part of why I'll be seeking employment and a possible retirement situation nearer to better medical care.

I'm fairly "open" with co-workers, never with patients. Other LGBT co-workers are all millennials, having never experienced the 1970's, it's all just dark ages to them.
Yes I'm upset with the hate radio and internet homophobes, I believe a young one named Ben Shapiro is doing our cause a lot of damage, he has a younger listening demographic.
This particular trip is a bit of an oddity, probably to most seems silly.
My service dog Caleb is around 11 years old. That's upper 80's in dog years, and showing some health issues.
He helped me get home many times after my trauma incident, and kept me safe.
So this little vacation is actually more for him than me, although I do need this break.
Tomorrow I take him to a dog park in Palo Alto that's he's famiiiar with from his puppyhood. I can't wait for him to get all excited in the car when he realizes where we're going!
Hey Bear, our hearts are still beating for now, and we have the common cause of making the country better for youth in our own way here on D.U.
And who knows, maybe one or both of us will be around to see Mayor Pete and Chasten become the first gay president and first husband!
Although today was celebratory of how far we've come, there's some personal triumph over homophobic fools who bullied me mercilessly in my youth, seeing that the youth today is enjoying, for the most part, acceptance we never knew.
Stay strong, brother!
