Vatican issues guidance questioning modern gender identity

10 June 2019

The Vatican has released a new document challenging modern conceptions of gender identity.

The 31-page teaching guidance, released on Monday, is titled Male and Female He Created Them.

It speaks of an "educational crisis" and says the current debate can "annihilate the concept of nature" and destabilise the family institution.

The document, released during Pride month, has drawn immediate criticism from LGBT groups.

It was issued by the Congregation for Catholic Education as teaching instruction to those who work with children.

and gender identity. Human sexual expression--just like any other animal's--is a continuum. Biological Exuberance, by Bruce Bagemihl.

Hm. What about garden snails? They're hermaphrodites. What about seahorses? The male bears the young. What about microorganisms? They don't have sex at all. (Interestingly, these last constitute, by far, the largest proportion of life on the planet.) But I guess these creatures aren't natural.

And what about humans who are born as what is referred to as "intersex"?

"Total number of people whose bodies differ from standard male or female--one in 100 births
Total number of people receiving surgery to 'normalize' genital appearance--one or two in 1,000 births"

That's an awful lot of non-standard human sexuality.

The Church has no ground on which to stand. But I for one am not surprised.

"Why do states with larger proportions of religious conservatives have higher divorce rates than states with lower proportions of religious conservatives?"

It ain't the liberals destroying the family.

what a group of people in "The Vatican" think about any gender-related process when there still has been no progress in identifying and halting centuries of sexual perversion by church officers that has harmed persons all over the world up to the present day?

is based in the number of people who subscribe to the doctrine and their capacity to hurt through law and even outright violence.
