Martina Navratilova has angered the transgender community by claiming that people who were born male should not be allowed to compete in womens sports events.
The former Wimbledon champion and LGBT campaigner made the statement on social media, and was swiftly accused of being transphobic.
Responding to a question from one of her followers about transgender women in sport, Navratilova said: Clearly that cant be right. You cant just proclaim yourself a female and be able to compete against women. There must be some standards, and having a penis and competing as a woman would not fit that standard.

But, I'd note that there is a difference in muscle development for those under influence of testosterone and other androgens at any point in their lives. Would they be forced to allow other women to use steroids to 'even the playing field'?

hormones. If a transgender person is going to compete against women then they should be well into hormone therapy, otherwise it is not fair.

Theres a lifetime of accumulated tissue and bone mass that hormones are not going to fix.
Some things in life are just going to be unfair. Trans athletes are probably always going to get the short end of the representation stick.
