When We Rise

What did you think/feel about the portrayal? I have mixed feelings about it.

4. Will watch it tonight instead of the bigoted infomercial aring tonight.

Why mixed feelings? Should I wait until I see it?

5. I'll just say I had a bit of a squirm about aspects of the portrayal, largely because of the

audience reach. See what you think.

6. Will do!

I have semi-high hopes. The fact is, at this point, we need just about anything which shows gay people are here and we aren't going anywhere!

9. Well, I didn't get to watch it.

Ended up watching "The Flash", "The Real O'Neals" and the last chapter of "Taboo". I thought "Taboo" was tomorrow, which is why I thought I'd get to the other thing tonight. Best laid plans and all. LOL! I guess my hubby and I will binge watch it this weekend.

7. I just finished the book 2 weeks ago

I don't have TV, so I''ll Netflix it another time. In the book, I liked that he spent time addressing the differences between the lesbian community & gay male community differences about sexual behavior in the 70s&early 80s. The book is a fast read and I's recommend it if you check it out from the library.

8. Interesting. They showed a bit of that and also the dynamic of our 2 communities starting to

dialogue and collaborate, which felt very familiar.

11. Many tears last night

One of my good friends, who is an AIDS Survivor from that era, acknowledged he had a hard time watching - it was too painful.

12. Yes, last night brought back the feelings of fear and deep sadness that we were steeped in back then

F'ing Reagan! Ignoring the tidal wave and refusing funding was beyond abhorrent.
