Tallahassse high school crowns gay couple prom king and queen

TALLAHASSEE -- Leon high-schoolers crowned a gay couple prom king and queen last month, a first in the school’s 185-year-old history.

To the two girls — Lindsey Creel and Brie Grimes, seniors who have been dating for three years — winning prom king and queen was not about the titles, but about helping others and raising awareness about LGBTQ issues.

But I'm pleased that prom king and queens, and homecoming queens isn't something that we have over here. Having proms is bad enough. We never did that when I left school, we just got drunk on the last day and told the headmaster to F off.

4. I live right near Tallahassee and I couldn't be more proud.

Tally is a left leaning town right in the middle of right-wing panhandle territory. My alma mater, Florida State University,(go Noles) was known in the 60's and 70's as the Berkeley of the South. So. I am not surprised.

We currently have to represent us, Gwen Graham, daughter of Florida hero, former governor and senator, Bob Graham. I think she is quitting to run for governor though. She is likely to be replaced with a rethuglican.

But Tally is a shining blue star amidst the ignorant, bible thumper red crap.
