York, Delgaudio ousted by Democrats in Loudoun County Board elections

By Rachel Weiner November 4 at 8:39 AM 

Loudoun County Board Chairman Scott K. York (I) was defeated by Democrat Phyllis J. Randall on Tuesday in a three-way race, ending his two-decade career in the government of one of the nation’s richest counties.

Also swept out of office was Sterling Supervisor Eugene A. Delgaudio (R), a conservative firebrand who survived a recall effort last year.

Democrat Koran Saines, a human resources manager for Aramark, is set to replace the four-term supervisor and anti-gay activist, who among other things has accused U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) of being “the Homosexual Lobby’s Trojan Horse.”

But only 214 votes — about 4 percentage points -- separated the two candidates in a preliminary count, without any provisional ballots.

VIRGINA: Long-Haired Homosexual Men In Warehouses Defeat Anti-Gay Crackpot Eugene Delgaudio

No post about Delgaudio's defeat would be complete without this:

Eugene Delgaudio’s Really Weird Rant: Beware the RADICAL Homosexuals

EXCERPT of Delgaudio fundraising appeal letter:

One stormy night I drove to a mailshop hidden deep in a nearly deserted stand of warehouses. I’d heard something was up and wanted to see for myself.

As I rounded the final turn my eyes nearly popped. Tractor-trailers pulled up to loading docks, cars and vans everywhere and long-haired, earring-pierced men scurrying around running forklifts, inserters and huge printing presses.

Trembling with worry I went inside. It was worse than I ever imagined.

Row after row of boxes bulging with pro-homosexual petitions lined the walls, stacked to the ceiling.

My mind reeled as I realized hundreds, maybe thousands, more boxes were already loaded on the tractor-trailers. And still more petitions were flying off the press.

Suddenly a dark-haired man screeched, “Delgaudio what are you doing here?” Dozens of men began moving toward me. I’d been recognized.

As I retreated to my car, the man chortled, “This time Delgaudio we can’t lose.”

Driving away, my eyes filled with tears as I realized he might be right. This time the Radical Homosexuals could win.

You see, even though homosexuals are just 1% of the population, if every one sent a petition to Congress it would generate a tidal wave of two or three million petitions or more.

Hundreds of thousands of pro-homosexual petitions will soon flood Congress , and my friends in Congress tell me there’s virtually nothing on Capitol Hill from the tens of millions of Americans like you who oppose the radical Homosexual Agenda and the Gay Bill of Special Rights.

I made up my mind that night to write to you and as many other patriotic Americans as possible. To stop the Radical Homosexuals and protect traditional marriage there must be an immediate outpouring from folks like you.

Or this variation:

"Dear Xxx,

"One stormy night, I drove to a mailshop hidden deep in a nearly deserted stand of warehouses. I’d heard something was up and wanted to see for myself. As I rounded the final turn, my eyes nearly popped. Tractor-trailers pulled up to loading docks, cars and vans everywhere and long-haired, earring-pierced men scurrying around running forklifts, inserters and huge printing presses.

As I retreated to my car, the man chortled, ‘This time, Delgaudio, we can’t lose!’ Driving away, my eyes filled with tears as I realized he might be right. This time the Homosexual Lobby could win it all.

"If you still oppose the radical Homosexual Agenda and want to defend the Family and marriage, then please immediately fill out the American Morality Survey and chip in with $5 or $10 or even $35 to Public Advocate right away.”

He sent it out several times.

Breaking news: it's a conspiracy:

This Explains Everything

Finally, here's Delgaudio himself, doing what he does best, making a spectacle of himself and/or begging for money. The date of "publication is October 27, but the green leaves on the trees indicate this was recorded somewhat earlier.

That's the print title, in Thursday morning's Washington Post.

Defeat of anti-gay Loudoun politician comes with Democratic board victories

By Michael Laris November 4 at 9:33 PM 

Eugene A. Delgaudio has for years lived something of a bifurcated life: He was an elected leader in Virginia, debating taxes, zoning and other local matters. He also made a living as head of the anti-gay group Public Advocate of the United States, blasting what he calls the “homosexual lobby” and sometimes raising money by vilifying gay men as rapists and pedophiles.

On Tuesday, Delgaudio (R-Sterling) lost one of his jobs, as a member of the Board of Supervisors in Loudoun County, 30 miles northwest of Washington. ... By about 200 votes out of more than 6,000 cast, the 60-year-old politician was defeated by Democrat Koran T. Saines, 34, a human resources executive.
....

“I think enough people with common sense finally got tired of the nonsense,” said Jim Burton, a political independent and former supervisor who frequently sparred with Delgaudio on the dais. “In the long run, it couldn’t help but be connected. That’s his reputation. The people in Sterling who pay attention understand that. Finally, enough of them went to the polls.”
....

“I’ve warned about the homosexual lobby for 33 years, and I’m not using the phraseology from 33 years ago today,” said Delgaudio, who remarked that he has “plenty” of gay friends. He said the agenda of the “gay lobby” is dangerous.

Name one.

One of the commenters posted a link to this site:

Nice Work If You Can Get It

How’s this for a plan:

1. Send people letters and email, pleading for money to fight a terrible (yet non-existent) danger.

2. Use that money to finance another round of dishonest pleas for money.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, month after month, year after year, while taking a “management fee” for my efforts.

Nice, huh? Actually, I didn’t invent it. I’m trying to figure out if that’s what anti-gay activist Eugene Delgaudio is doing.
