Transgender women are "not women", Australian-born academic and writer Germaine Greer has said.
Her comments were made in response to a petition asking Cardiff University to cancel the author's lecture.
Ms Greer is due to speak in a lecture called Women & Power: The Lessons of the 20th Century.

Ms Greer told BBC News: "I was going to talk about women and power... because I think there is a lot of triumphalist (sic) talk that masks the real historic situation.
"And apparently people have decided that because I don't think that post-operative transgender men... are women I'm not to be allowed to talk."

No more so than we should provide a racist a venue for their bigotry.[/font]

(23,730 posts)even dream of: their influence on policy--especially in Britain and Canada--has allowed a lot of transwomen and gays to be raped and murdered by setting the agenda towards Caribbean countries and asylum policy towards that area, especially the Anglophone islands (independence is pretty nominal even for Jamaica); they even reinforce the rhetoric that they're not "true women"
all for the sake of some self-referential academese: they're basically the Duggars, but I think even their brood swaps sh-tters when needed instead of screaming about it
and of course the vomitous crab-bucket "safe space" on the lookout for "infiltrators" and where any demurral is cast into the wilderness is neatly designed to prevent any sort of solidarity, which is what's needed most in the world; even Bindel says this is getting toxic, and she's basically the reverse Paglia (and recall that MILLIONS are at stake here)
(interestingly this has a long and curious precedent in some feminist utopian SF--from Perkins Gilman to Tepper and Gearheart, there are these longstanding fantasies of all-woman societies, unwittingly sharing a lot of tropes--and readers note them sliding quickly into eugenically preventing gay men from being born and in just reinforcing the gender roles of the decade they were written in)
