Right-wing morons bring us "Ex-Gay Awareness Month"

Right Wing Watch story here

This shit drives people crazy. It's unscientific bullshit and it kills people.

But they're doing it again.

From the article:

On Friday’s edition of “Sandy Rios In The Morning,” ex-gay activist Christopher Doyle advertised the upcoming “Safe Exit Summit," a Washington, D.C., event honoring “Ex-Gay Awareness Month.” Prominent Religious Right groups including the Family Research Council, the American Family Association and Liberty Counsel are sponsoring the event, which includes a congressional lobby day, speeches and worship sessions.

How does one "dissuade" someone from being what they are?

Given the number of people they've hurt, there should be legal action. Bastards.

He interviewed people at the value voters summit, or what the hell they call themselves. This one guy who wears the tricorn hat and the rest of that shit said something like 50% of gay guys end up with HIV, and Mike, being polite, did not call him out.

The only "choice" I made is to be honest with myself, with my peers and live as the person I was born to be. Yes I could have "chosen" to be dishonest, pleased my now passed on parents, procreate, likely be miserable denying myself what is so innately woven in my being. I'd likely be one of the closet cases who cheats on my opposite gender spouse in secret trysts with other men. In other words, cave in to the demands of the so called "moral" bunch and conform to what the likes of Rick Santorum demands.
I've paid a steep price just to be who I am. My parents rejected and neglected me I was bullied relentlessly at school once my preferences became public knowledge, I had a horribly ugly encounter with the master of hate himself, Fred Phelps. His extended local family fanned the flames to escalate the bullying, "faggot" replaced my name countless times. I finally ran away at 16, lived as a homeless street cretin doing whatever I could to survive. It was better than the beatings I continually suffered at "home". I have had to make extraordinary steps to make up for this bad start to adulthood.
Consequently, I reject all these evangelical's superstitious nonsense. They've turned a blind eye to the pain and misery they have caused so many in some sick reverence to their sky spooks. They pick and choose the passages from their holy books that fit their agendas, and reject much that is just as outdated and ridiculous.
And I believe if their Jesus Christ were to return embodied today, he'd turn over their market tables, call them out on their hypocrisy and greed, and be crucified all over again by those who call themselves "christians".
