http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/29842304/1189401559?token=984ee0ad-- I consider myself a patriot.
-- I would do anything for my country.
-- Im a Republican--it feels like my party.
Youve heard conservative ideas before but what if you heard them coming from a group of older men who regularly get together to dress as women?
All money generated by this Kickstarter campaign will go toward filming and post-production costs for a 60--90 minute documentary film called Republican Party Cross-Dressers, an in-depth portrait of a community of cross-dresser men who regularly meet at underground locations in the tri-state area (outside NYC) to release their inner female. Whats especially striking about most people in this particular group is not their spectacular, gender-bending costume but the surprising uniformity of their conservative political posture.
Most of them are over 60 years old. Republican Party Cross-Dressers will take the viewing audience into the men's homes as well as unveil their lifestyle, showing some subjects in both male and female roles. One has a collection of war uniforms while others collect medals, guns, or American flags.
*** irony is still flying right over their heads.

Many people don't realize that a huge number of crossdressers are actually straight.

(1,836 posts)crossdressers I met were of a conservative bent. A transsexual acquaintance once ascribed it to self-hate.

(6,036 posts)There has been speculation that the TG group is over-represented in the Uber-Macho e.g. Special Forces, Paratroopers etc. presumably stemming from a hope to either drive the fem self away or to hide it so none will suspect. Either way the effect is to put members of the community into right leaning environments. In this case we are talking about 60+yr olds (conservative group), who have enough disposable income to buy a second wardrobe, wig(s), forms, etc. and can find the time to travel to meetings discreetly, e.g. by private conveyance to a suburban location.
I see it as a natural outgrowth of societies attempts to enforce a rigid gender binary on those who don't fit nicely into their prescribed box.
