Should we always feel the need to post it?
I think we should highlight it to show the insanity of it all, but on the other hand it's gets really depressing seeing it.
I just read this http://www.advocate.com/politics/politicians/2012/05/23/rev-fears-life-after-denouncing-gays-facebook I think it's a bullshit story and would love to debate this asshole in public especially over passages from the Book of Leviticus that his ilk so conveniently do not quote.
What to do, what to do.
ETA: I was speaking of myself only here. Wording was very bad and for that I apologize.

(38,187 posts)I just have to wonder about this. He posts on his FB the following Leviticus (seems to me that that's the only part of the bible they really read, quote and like,) "If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
'Mkay.
Then he says he never called: "publicly or privately for the killing of any people."
I have to say he's right. He didn't. Leviticus did. He just accidentally quoted him, but, you know, it's only an analogy, sort of. It's not meant to be taken literal. It's, it's just an opinion. An endorsement, if you'd like. So if you now go and kill gay people in the name of Leviticus, that's YOUR problem.

(55,150 posts)Example Leviticus 19:19 reads, "You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together."
I must be having a bad hair day writing.

(38,187 posts)Yeah. Like the guy with the Leviticus quote tattooed on his shoulder.
i just wonder if that's the only part in the bible they actually read? And I'm not even Christian. But I have my family's bible (my dad was Catholic and my mom Protestant, but no church goers, just the way it happened,) and since it's Lutheran, there's no Leviticus in it.

(38,187 posts)I just read about the MCC. Sounds very nice and progressive. And when I say I'm not a Christian, I mean this with absolutely no disrespect.

(55,150 posts)MCC was founded in the late 60's by the Reverend Troy Perry (A Gay Man) in his living room. Today MCC has Church's worldwide who accepts all. My kind of people.

(55,150 posts)I was just sharing my feelings on how these affect me. On one hand they should be outed for what they are on the other hand it's just really depressing for me to see it.
