KUDOS to Rep Jayapal saying that challenging misdeeds by the Israeli government isn't antisemitic. (Original Post) egbertowillies Nov 2023 OP
But maybe characterizing the deeds as "evil" is what is antisemitic. marybourg Nov 2023 #1

It’s all about framing the narrative. Evil is a powerful word. And it has been used to describe Jews for centuries.

A person shouldn't get a pass on evil deeds. There are far right members of Netanyahu's cabinet and the Knesset who are absolutely promoting hate and inciting violence. We don't like that when it's Trump's people doing that here in the US.

other nation, has the right and duty to destroy an enemy sworn to its destruction. It is not limited to killing only as many as the enemy killed; it is entitled to try to wipe out any ongoing enemy.

If that enemy hides among the civilian population it pretends to be championing, in its homes, schools and mosques, it is the evil force and Israel does not thereby lose its right to preserve its existence. To single Israel out, among all the nations, as being evil for fighting for its very existence is anti- semitic, in my opinion.

Any criticism of Israel is anti semitic to you.

Israel does not have the right to wipe out an entire people.

Their actions are evil like Russia's actions are evil.

Israel is committing genocide.

Supporting bombing hospitals and schools and refugee camps are war crimes.

My Jewish mil agrees with me as does her entire family.

as 'evil deeds'. (not a lot of prosecutions going on there - that we know of) The theft of Palestinian land (via illegal settlement) would be considered - at the very least criminal, in most civilized countries - if not perhaps outright evil. I'm not sure if I'm going to get hung up on that particular word. So, in the larger context ...

No, criticizing Israel for its 'misdeeds' is not antisemitism - and further, it never has been. On the other hand, we have seen plenty of outright and abject antisemitism (from numerous sources) over the past month or so. And we don't have any trouble identifying THAT either ..

The people dying, being wounded, losing their homes, being evicted from hospitals during the bombings don't look like Hamas. Looks like a lot of civilians and children. If they were Hamas being killed, the Israeli government would show the photos to the world as proof.
