Related: About this forumPoll: 78% of Jewish Israelis say Iran deal endangers country
http://m.jpost.com/?Mobileid=2#article=6017NzFDRDRCQUQ3NTJBMjY1RkY5M0ZDQTUzNDI5QjdCNjk=The percentage saying that the deal would endanger Israel was 78%. Fifteen percent said it does endanger Israel and 7% did not know.
Seventy-one percent said the deal would bring Iran closer to a military nuclear capability. Twelve percent said it would distance Iran and 17% did not know.
When asked whether they support an Israeli military strike on Iran if it would be necessary to prevent the Islamic state from getting nuclear weapons, 47% said yes, 35% said no, and 18% did not know.
Fifty-one percent said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should use all possible tools to persuade Congress to vote against the deal, 38% said the prime minister should instead try to reach understandings with US President Barack Obama about its implementation, and 11% did not know.
So, pretty much in line with the viewers of Fox News.
51% want to shamelessly interfere with our political process. A plurality want war with Iran.

You know this is a liberal board, not a Likud or Republican one, right?

Bibi is no different than Bush-Cheney, and his supporters likewise.

(59,507 posts)Consider the percent of people who backed GWB in 2003. Not to mention, it is not just Bibi. Every leader they have is saying the same thing.
However consider Netanyahu said that even if there was a deal similar to the framework -and this is - and Iran complied,it would still be a bad deal. That shows that there is no achievable deal he would have tolerated.

(58,724 posts)Shouldn't the US government put pressure on Netanyahu to stop building settlements, for example?

(68,868 posts)or rather engage in diplomatic contacts with the government.

(58,724 posts)Having snubbed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's planned speech to Congress the previous day, US Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday met with Netanyahu's main political rival, the leader of Israel's center-left bloc Isaac Herzog, on the sidelines of the Munich security conference.

(58,724 posts)I tried to provide an example to demonstrate that they do.
Do you think it is ok for the US to lobby opposition Knesset members to try to bring pressure on Netanyahu to change his policies with respect to settlements?
Would you consider that to be interfering with their political process?
Let's say there was a RW Republican US President who was blocking any kind of international nuclear deal with Iran.
Would you be opposed to European countries who support a deal trying to lobby Democrats in Congress to put pressure on the RW Republican US President to agree to a deal or would you object to that sort of meddling?
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)You have not established, or even demonstrated any reason to believe, that Biden was lobbying Herzog. Much more likely, it was Herzog talking to Biden about the Iran deal.
And yes, it would be objectionable to have Europeans lobbying our Congress.
