They don't use modern material handling systems. Just muscle. So they rely on trains for the bulk of their material movement and trucks for the rest.
But it is slow. Every shell is moved by hand. Every crate. Every water bottle and food packet.
By hand. It all gets piled high, because who wants to spread it out?
It's all in the open.
It's all a long way from the front.
And now, it's further away and spread further out.
No wonder their box Jackie's are so buff.
