His comment about sending immigrants from Mexico back with rifles is classic Abbey.

(31,182 posts)I mailed the Monkey Wrench Gang to a friend of mine who was in jail. I didn't know he was in jail at the time! He loved it.
The real find is "Jonathan Troy". It had limited distribution, Abbey was not proud of it, so it never went back into print.
One of my favorite quotes was that his royalties moved him up into the lower middle class.
