COP28 host UAE to massively ramp up oil production, BBC learns

The United Arab Emirates' state oil firm Adnoc may drill 42% more by 2030, according to analysts considered the international gold standard in oil market intelligence.
...
The information on Adnoc comes from Rystad Energy, whose oil market intelligence is widely used and trusted by fossil fuel companies and international bodies such as the International Energy Agency.
...
Campaigners Global Witness then used this data to make a list of top oil producers between now and 2050.

The UAE came second behind Saudi Arabia. It currently ranks 12th in the world.

COP28 is the "drill, baby, drill!" of climate change.

The BBC previously unmasked the UAE for using COP28 as an summit for making oil and gas deals.
They promise to go big on renewables. Suuure.

... especially natural gas.

Promoting renewables makes good business sense to them. It's more than greenwash.

Which is why, in the long run, solar and wind energy will do nothing to reduce the total amount of greenhouse gasses dumped into the environment.

Too many people seem to accept hybrid gas /solar / wind power as something "better than coal" or "transitional." That's just another flavor of climate change denial.

We need to quit fossil fuels entirely.

Cheap oil means we'll crank out way more plastic instead, with the environmental damage that entails.
