So disappointed in Costco

Been buying their "environmentally friendly" handwashing dish detergent for years. They no longer carry it. They carry something called "Shine". No environmental labing. Husband bought it. I'm returning it.

Not only that, according to the Environmental Working Group, the "environmentally friendly" detergent actually wasn't..

I'm spending over an hour seeking a substitute. Not something busy families can do.

Fuck.

Any ideas, DU hive mind? Is this just a losing proposition?

5. I have been using Dawn

for YEARS. Hope it is safe. I do remember seeing them clean oil spills off of wildlife
using Dawn. I have a cousin named Joy and my real name is Dawn!

2. I will suggest Dr. Bronners Pure Castile Soap

Look it up…not easy to track down postable pics on my phone.

We camp a lot. We use this for dishes, clothes, personal hygiene…practically anything that needs a soap. We prefer the unscented. Rinses easily, just requires a few drops, leaves no residue.

As an aside, when needed, we can cook a simple meal, wash dishes, and rinse dishes on about 3 liters of water

My local grocery store carries them, so does Walmart and Amazon.

We used to be members at Costco but with only two of us was a lot of bulk. And they were carrying less environmentally kind things. Left about 5 years ago.

I think they had some small store fronts but I live rurally so order online.
What I like about them is that you can narrow your searches and they give a lot of detail about the products.
I order all of household cleaning products from them as well as lots of other things too like food stuffs.

Most dishwashing soaps are pretty benign. The elimination of phosphates was one of the last big hurdles. Sulfate-based soaps aren’t perfect, but they are pretty safe.

8. Seventh Generation products are great. And they also have fragrance free versions of their stuff.

You can find their products at Whole Foods, Amazon,Target, Vitacost, iHerb, etc.

12. Why are you hating on Costco for this?

Do you know why they dropped this product? Was it some nefarious plot to deprive the world of environmentally friendly products?

Have you suggested better products and asked Costco to carry them?
