It then fell another 3.78 m sq km to hit its low on 15 September. Yesterday, the total extent was only 6.33 m sq k. If it matches 2012's drop for the remainder of the melt season, it will finish at 2.55 msk, just 1.55 msk above what is considered an ice-free arctic.
