Help NYS Get A Better ED Commissioner

Petition to Remove NYS ED Commissioner

Cross Post From GD

http://www.coalitionforjusticeineducation.com/

>John King has served as New York State Commissioner of Education since 2011. During his tenure, the quality of education in NY has continued to decline; particularly in poor and rural districts. The Commissioner’s solutions rely upon blindly accepting NCLB, RTTT and Common Core policies and implementing more high-stakes, standardized testing for evaluation of students and teachers, implementation of an untested national curriculum, undemocratic corporate management strategies for operating schools, more privatization of schools and insistence that poverty-related conditions are not an excuse for low student achievement.>

Basically he's inexperienced, unqualified and a tool of the $$$$ privatization of public ed movement. Recently imposed a "bust the union" eval system to get rid of senior teachers.

Bad guy, straight out of central casting. It's a no-brainer, and so is HE.

If you're worried about your name showing on line, choose the link that keeps it hidden. ( I'd certainly recommend this option for teachers who wish to keep working in NYS.)

Talk about NSC whistleblowers needing protection. Hah.
