12 arrests made at St. Louis fast food protests
ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Police say 12 arrests were made Thursday at the fast food workers protests at Kiener Plaza.
The organizers of the nationwide protests demanded two things: a minimum wage increase from $7.35 per hour to $15 an hour because they say it is necessary to cover basic needs, and for the right to organize labor unions without the threat of retaliation from the billion dollar fast food industry.
No additional information about the arrests was immediately available. Check back to KSDK.com for updates.

Working in Retail can be very "entertaining" at times.

(36,221 posts)It is stunning how rude people are to retail clerks. I have a theory that these people feel exploited & powerless in their own lives & when they are in a situation where they are allowed to behave however they want, as in "the customer is always right," they lash out & treat someone else exactly how they do not like to be treated.
Our culture has classes of people, for whom it is acceptable to treat abysmally.
on edit: I worked retail for 10 years & hated every moment. My first job after was a boring, boring job on the line of a plastic molding injection company. I trimmed tiny plastic pieces with a razor blade for 8 hours a day. My friends all told me I would hate it. I thought I was in heaven!
