Quote for the Day:

McConnell had never been known for choosing principle over power, and he was not about to start then. McConnell never seemed to consider whether he should block Garland, only whether he could. And the answer came back a resounding yes.

1. Timely quote

since that nasty old spider is crawling back into the web.

I thought at the time that was what was going on, McConnell just flexing his muscles. Garland is a meticulous centrist and I don't think the old fossil had any real objection to him. He just had his dungheap and he wasn't going to let anybody on it that he hadn't chosen.

. . . one day at a time.

Also, I think the Senate is going to play an outsize role over the next, oh, 19 months, and possibly as regards SCOTUS. I'm not trying to make any predictions, but . . . . .

McConnell's health is questionable after the fall and concussion. Feinstein is out for a while longer, and highly questionable. Fetterman is back, but Manchin and that slug Sinema -- I hope that doesn't get me censured by DU -- can still cause problems. Throw into that mix the revelations about Crooked Clarence and any of Jack Smith's investigations into the January 6th plots involving Ginni Thomas, and it all could get very interesting, especially if it comes out that Harlan Crow paid off Kavanaugh's debts. There's always, always, always a paper trail; it just takes the right snooper to find it. Could either of those justices be pressured into resigning? I suppose it's an outside chance, but one never knows. And that makes for a whole new ball game.

but identifying the kennel where she was whelped might not be.

Someone posted here at DU that good old Mom and Dad paid off Justice Beer Me's debts. I have no way of checking that so it remains an online post with no backup. Somebody certainly did pay off 6 figure debts of his, twice.

I hope something gets Thomas off the bench, he's poisoned the court for 30 years and that's enough, thanks.

Endless upward trend today. Or will they wait until May 5 for a correction when the Fed lights the lamp again?
