It's too bad, fantasy shopping land was fun while it lasted, until the US worker was beggared to the point of avoiding them so they wouldn't be reminded of better days and mergers and megamergers reduced the number of stores that could meet that kind of rent while being burdened by massive debt.
They were the canary in the coal mine when it comes to utterly fouling up the consumer economy, squeezed at both ends and unable to survive either. There is very little retail left and there will be even less after the dust clears when Covid is no longer epidemic. Cheap labor conservatives had retail on the ropes. The virus has finished it off.
We're all going to be in for a rather rough time over the next few years. I have no idea what will take the place of what we once had. I just hope something does.
I'll miss them, no matter how tacky they got before they closed. They were a lot more pleasant than trudging from store to store outdoors in triple digit heat.
