(6,377 posts)They're extremely visible and affect everybody. I know some states are already paying well over $3, but I imagine if the national average goes about $3, it's going to start heating up.

I heat my house in the winter and my hot water all the time with oil.
It has gone from $2.49/gallon two years ago to $3.59/gallon today.
For a 400 gallon tank that is a major bump in price.
Major crunch on the budget.

(38,958 posts)it is everything the gets to a store shelf or delivered in any means including gasoline. The items at sometime were on the back of a truck and that requires gas or diesel to get it delivered. Increased petroleum costs will ripple through every sector of the economy.

(432 posts)You know they are coming up with another tax break before the midterms. Bernie talks about free college. He is talking to people who are OK with money being taken out of public education. They dont need no college. A lot of us do not see that we will pay more for public services. Their answer is to Cut services. They are already working on both fronts.
