Am I Wrong on This?

Earlier today a friend of mine posted a link on facebook to a charity organization that seeks to empower girls in Kenya who face enormous obstacles to obtaining an education. I replied and pointed out that Kenya actually has better gender parity in education than the US does and that if his charity sought to help boys as well as girls I'd gladly offer my $10 donation, since the problem is poverty and both need better access.

Of course he called me a misogynist in one reply and in another says that I have a problem with helping women for causes that are particular to them. I don't. I just don't see access to education in Africa as a problem particular to women. Am I wrong on this?

BTW, if you look at most of the countries in Africa, nearly all of them have gender parity in education as good as or better than the US, regardless of all the charities collecting money under the auspices that girls are not be educated there.

We're so conditioned to view girls/women as the victims in every scenario that you are unlikely to convince him otherwise.

This is why we're pushing for even more spending to help girls graduate in the US even though A) they already receive more funding than boys and B) they are outperforming boys.

Also why prostate cancer, which kills roughly as many men as breast cancer kills women, recieves only a fraction of the funding and attention.
.
Women are always the victim, men always the privileged class even when the facts say otherwise.

Hell even suggesting men have any issues at all is enough to get you labeled a woman hater
